
Wirral
definitely has something for everyone. It is steeped in history, for example the
village of Port Sunlight created by William Hesketh Lever and the spectacular
Hamilton Square renowned for it's fine Georgian buildings. Wirral is home to
Spaceport, a £10 million visitor attraction providing a virtual journey through
space.
You
can ride on a tram, take an open top bus tour or sail the famous Mersey Ferry.
You can visit Tam O'Shanters Urban Farm, walk the beautiful coast or through the
many parks and gardens. Birkenhead Park is famed for influencing the design of
Central Park in New York and was designed by Sir Joseph Paxton who also designed
the Crystal Palace at the Great Exhibition.
The peninsular is well serviced with sports facilities such as the 7 sailing clubs and 9 leisure centres including 'The Oval' famous for being used for the Olympic scenes in the film 'Chariots of Fire'. There are several golf courses including the Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, host to the 2006 Open Championships.

The Wirral is easy to get to by road, train, bus or sea ferry and is in with easy reach of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester.
