The Wirral Vocal Workshop is a non profit venture, running and sustaining on subs from weekly classes.
Wirral
Vocal Workshop is about getting pleasure from singing and any young person who
likes to sing, would like to learn more about singing, or just have the
opportunity to sing with other people would be very welcome to come along. Not
only is it great fun, it builds confidence and is a great way to make new
friends!

I felt that there
were a lot of schemes out there already, which do
tend to be very expensive. For a lot of families were money is tight, it's just too much to pay out
and so the workshop is for those children
who perhaps could never otherwise afford to attend a workshop that not only encourages confidence, but where they can perform live and go into a
studio to cut a disk.
I am a bit of a one man band and started the workshop on my own and luckily with the help of some parents, its all appreciated (which is fabulous).
We had a community fund grant last year which was a godsend. We used the money to purchase a new PA system and put on our first show & buffet night, which was enjoyed by all.
We have done various performances from singing for patients in Clatterbridge Oncology to entertaining old folks in residential homes. I feel it restores faith in the elderly to realise that not all children hang about streets causing a nuisance. Many a tear was shed whilst they listened to some of the class performing some oldies for them.
This year I have a dream and mission. I aim to try to find funding to perhaps get premises were children from all communities can come
along to be able to record on site and even to have our own choreographer to help out for those that love to dance too. This
would be a community effort and I am going to see what funds are available. I
would love to reach out to the kids from estates were there is not much to do,
maybe have a bus so we could go onto the estates and bring the workshop to the
kids.
I am so proud of these kids who are from all walks of life and it’s not just the parents tearful during some performances!!! I get such a buzz and satisfaction knowing that what we do is giving back in a way that isn’t extortionate and I feel this is the why the workshop is such a pleasure.
