Clatterbridge Cancer Research Trust is a charity based at the JK Douglas Laboratories on the Wirral, providing world class research for the benefit of people today and future generations. With cancer now affecting 1 in 3 people, either personally or a loved one,
CCRT’s research into cancer is more crucial than ever before. CCRT is a charity and receives no funding whatsoever from the NHS. Voluntary donations are relied upon to raise a staggering £1.5 million per year to fund the ongoing work taking place in the laboratories, so it is very clear how vital fundraising really is.
This money is used to research the genetic factors which cause cancer, with an emphasis currently on breast and brain cancers but impacting greatly upon a vast array of other cancers as well, with the aim of finding and developing better treatments for people on the Wirral and Merseyside.
